About Me
I’m Helen Sons, and I design and develop corporate and tech sector training. I have a Master’s degree in Educational Instructional Design Technologies and have worked most of my 15+ years in the tech sector. I have a strong foundation in instructional design principles and learning theory.
I am also a certified project manager (PMP), and I approach training as projects with structure and measurement.
I excel at building out complex learning curricula, driving learning projects, and interacting with other departments and SMEs who work on all kinds of technology.
I am passionate about creating meaningful, immersive training for new and experienced adult learners. Being a life-long learner, I enjoy creating materials that are easy to understand and that pertain to how they will apply their new learning to activities when back on the job.
Learning Projects
This scenario-based eLearning training module was designed and developed to help employees working for a large retail brokerage report their mileage correctly. Throughout the training, the reps engage in real-life, low-risk scenarios, ultimately instilling in them a method to remember how to calculate their mileage accurately.

I created, designed, and developed this 2-day blended course (online, leader-led, and vLearning) for Nortel. This Design Spec is for an introductory course on Ethernet Fundamentals.
I created, designed, and developed this micro-learning lesson for Nortel for delivery via cellphone. The training is viewed from the technician’s smartphone, based on one of Nortel’s products, and includes hardware and software to provide techs with Just-In-Time troubleshooting techniques while on the job.
